Aquaman beats Captain America and other Marvel & DC movies in China

Since it was released in China on December 7th, 2018; Aquaman movie has turned out to be a huge success earning millions of dollars for the Warner Bros. Studios and the DCEU franchise. Although the movie is doing great and setting new records worldwide. However, it has yet to be released in North America and keeping in view its ongoing success; the fans all over the world are anticipating that its going to be the first DCEU movie to touch the billion dollar mark.

This underwater adventure flick which is directed by James Wan (The Conjuring, Fast and Furious 7, The Nun) has not only earned the biggest opening weekend for any movie in the month of December in the Chinese market but it also dethroned Captain America: Civil War.

According to Heroic Hollywood, the DCEU stand-alone superhero film Aquaman managed to break Captain America: Civil War’s record by becoming the highest earning movie within the first 10 days of its release.

In 2016, Captain America: Civil War earned $155.8 million in China during the first 10 days of its release whereas Aquaman broke this record and scored $189.2 million (of which $135 million are its opening weekend’s earnings).

Aquaman was released in an additional 42 markets this past weekend making it close to a worldwide gross of $300 million. Although Aquaman will have to face quite a stiff competition once it is released in North America however, it is still expected that the King of Atlantis will be able to earn some huge numbers when the movie is released near Christmas.
