Ben Affleck Might Be Hanging Up The Suit Sooner Than Expected & Maybe Out As Batman

If you loved watching Ben Affleck as the Batman, then this is a bad news for you. According to some sources, Warner Bros. is planning to replace Ben Affleck as the cape crusader. Affleck will be the part of the Comic Con DC panel this week to unveil the latest Justice League trailer, however, things aren’t as solid between Warner Bros. and Ben Affleck as before. After the Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice movie, Affleck was set to write, direct and act in the next standalone Batman movie. All of that changed when Live By Night tanked horribly at the box office last year. Affleck was at the helm of that movie and that flop jinxed it for him.

Just recently, Warner Bros. hired writer/director Matt Reeves to work on the Batman movie and he immediately binned the entire script written by Ben Affleck. Affleck had already announced earlier that he will no longer be directing the movie. Matt Reeves just had a massive success with the Planet of the Apes trilogy and intends to do it again with the upcoming Batman trilogy. A source working on the Batman project revealed to The Hollywood Reporter that the studio is actually planning to gracefully usher out Affleck as Batman. This change will be shown to the fans in one of the upcoming DC movies.

Naturally, at this point nothing is official. Especially since Warner Bros. want to kick off the production of Shazam right after the Justice League hits theaters on November 16, 2017. Director Matt Reeves and Warner Bros.’ Toby Emmerich are still backing up Ben Affleck as Batman but a lot can happen by the time the production starts of the new Batman movie. Maybe DC can go back to the model they had in the 90s and have a different actor play the role of the caped crusader in every movie. We are hoping to get some sort of update on the Batman movie at the Comic Con but it seems highly unlikely at this point. Stay tuned for more and latest Hollywood news.
