IDRIS ELBA has blamed current JAMES BOND star DANIEL CRAIG for starting widespread rumors suggesting he is to take over as 007.
The Luther actor is adamant Craig, who is currently shooting his fourth film as the superspy, touted him as potential replacement in an interview several years ago and effectively ruined his chance to land the dream role.
Speaking at a question and answer session in London on Tuesday (07Apr15), Elba told reporters, “Honestly, it’s a rumour that’s really starting to eat itself. If there was ever any chance of me getting Bond, it’s gone. Daniel Craig actually set the rumour off. About four years ago he said Idris Elba would be a great Bond and then it started to creep. I blame Daniel.”
Spectre, the 24th Bond film, is due for release later this year (15). (CMR/HR/LR)
