Jared Leto May Not Return As Joker In Suicide Squad 2

Jared Leto was not at all happy how fans reacted to his performance as the Joker in Suicide Squad and recently mentioned that he doesn’t know whether he’ll be the part of the sequel or not. Leto was particularly unhappy about how almost 70% of his scenes were edited out of the Suicide Squad, especially after he “poured in everything” to bring his flavor of the Joker to life. Also, soon after it was announced that Martin Scorsese is going to do a Joker origin movie that won’t be a part of the current DECU and with another actor playing the titular role, there were reports that Jared Leto maybe thinking to drop out of the DCEU for good. However, it was later announced officially that Leto will return as the crazy clown prince of crime alongside Margot Robie in Harley Quinn Vs. the JokerDespite that, Jared Leto is still unsure about Joker being the part of Suicide Squad 2. Other confirmed projects being worked on are Wonder Woman 2 and Aquaman, both of which will follow right after the upcoming Justice League.

Shazam and Flashpoint movies are officially happening and 4 more spin-offs involving the Joker in the works as well. Suicide Squad 2 is set to release some time in 2019 and Gavin O’Connor (The Accountant, Warrior, Jane Got a Gun) will be directing it. There are reports that Jared Leto’s Joker may have some sort of presence in the sequel but nothing is official yet. The only thing Jared is happy about regarding Suicide Squad 2, is its director. This is what Leto said:

“A lot of moving parts, we’ll see what happens. I think Gavin is incredibly talented, he seems to be the perfect director for Suicide Squad 2. I think he’s a really gifted filmmaker and I really love his work.”

Jared Leto’s recent project, Blade Runner 2049 was praised heavily by the critics but bombed at the box office and may not even earn back its budget. He’s also in talks to play the titular role in Brett Ratner’s Hugh Hefner biopic so the star is definitely going to be busy even if he doesn’t appear in Suicide Squad 2. We will keep you updated with any and all developments, till then, stay tuned for more and latest Hollywood news.
