WWE Superstar John Cena has already appeared in a number of movies that received modest reviews from the critics and fans. However, this is the first time he’s going to lead the cast of a big banner movie. Paramount Pictures has already kicked off the principal photography of the Transformers’ spin off movie. The studio plans to shoot the entire movie in California and has brought on some more new faces namely Kenneth Choi and Pamela Adlon to the Bumblebee movie including John Cena. The professional wrestler turned actor was very excited to break the news and had this to say:
The movie is set in 1987 when an on the run Bumblebee finds refuge in a junkyard of a small Californian beach town. A teenage girl named Charlie (Hailee Steinfeld) finds a broken and worn out Bumblebee and manages to revive him. As soon as Bumblebee gets on its feet, she realizes that she’s in a world of trouble. The movie is being directed by Travis Knight (Coraline, Kubo and the Two Strings) is going to feature John Cena, Hailee Steinfeld, Jorge Lendeborg Jr. (Spiderman: Homecoming), Stephen Schneider (Broad City), Jason Drucker (Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Long Haul) Abby Quinn (Landline, The Sisterhood of the Knight), Ricardo Hoyos (Degrassi: The Next Class), Rachel Crow (Deidra and Laney Rob a Train), and Grace Dzienny (Zoo).
The movie has got some Hollywood heavyweights backing it up financially. Transformers franchise masterminds Michael Bay and Lorenzo di Bonaventura along with executive producers Brian Goldner, Mark Vahradian and Steven Spielberg will be producing the movie. The script is being written by the talented Christina Hodson who also wrote Unforgettable which released earlier this year but failed to impress. Let’s just hope that this doesn’t turn out anything like that. The movie is set to release on December 21, 2018, and we will see Bumblebee as the vintage VW Bug once again. Stay tuned for more and latest Hollywood news.
