‘Joker: Folie à Deux’ Ticket Sales Projected to Dramatically Drop

Joker Folie à Deux

Ticket sales for the underwhelming and mostly panned sequel ‘Joker: Folie à Deux’ are projected to drop by at least 60% to 65% in its second weekend, which would amount to $13 million to $15 million, according to Variety.

Those numbers, however, are considered as optimistic as some experts wouldn’t be shocked if the film experienced a brutal 70%-75% decline, which would put revenues at $9 million to $11 million.

The musical was a far departure from the the first film, which received rave reviews, and has been ripped in reviews and general social media chatter as a complete flop following last weekend’s opening of $37.6 million, a disaster considering the anticipation of the follow up.

2019’s Oscar winning ‘Joker’ grossed $1.07 billion against a budget of roughly $60 million, setting the stage and building the hype for the arrival of the second film. But the second film’s complete bomb has the film needing to generate at least $450 million to break even, per the report.
