Comedy Central is celebrating the return of Jon Stewart to the ‘Daily Show’ as the TV ratings demonstrated its most watched episode of the late night show since March 2018 with ratings hitting a multi-year high.
Stewart’s first show back as (part-time schedule) host of Comedy Central’s late night flagship drew 930,000 viewers on Monday, which marked the most for an installment of Daily Show in almost 6 years, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Stewart, who left the anchor desk back in 2015, returned without missing a beat and was bolstered by Comedy Central’s aggressive marketing strategy hyping his long-awaited return to the show after his departure.
The show recorded its best same-day rating among adults 25-54 since August 2017.
Stewart will host the Daily Show on Monday nights only through the presidential election set to take place this November. When Stewart isn’t hosting, those duties will be split among the show’s team of correspondents and Jordan Klepper hosting for the remainder of the week.
