Mission Impossible 6 Production May Take A 4 Months Break After Tom Cruise Injury

Action megastar Tom Cruise recently suffered an injury while performing a building jump stunt. The star missed his landing and as a result, got injured. He received immediate medical attention on the set but had to be taken to a nearby hospital in London for a thorough checkup. His X-Rays revealed that he had broken 2 bones in his ankle and won’t be able to continue filming anytime soon. Tom is expected to head back home to the United States. This is what an unidentified source had to say about Tom’s injuries.

“The injury is worse than was at first feared. Tom did serious damage and will need months to recover. He is the film’s biggest star and everything revolves around him. The movie’s bosses had no choice other than to postpone the filming.”

Acclaimed British tabloid The Sun reported that Mission Impossible 6 had a tight filming schedule already and this incident will “wreak havoc”. Mission Impossible 6 is slated to release on July 27, 2018, and virtually has no stiff competition. In light of the recent events and resulting delays, the studio may go for a Christmas 2018 release. If that becomes the case, Mission Impossible 6 would go up against Warner Bros.’ Bumblebee (December 21, 2018), Aquaman (December 21, 2018), Disney’s Mary Poppins Returns (Christmas day 2018and Sony’s Spider-Man Animated Movie (December 14, 2018).

his unfortunate incident also raises the question whether or not Tom will still perform the biggest stunt of his life as mentioned by producer David Ellison back in March. Tom was seen hanging from the door of a cargo plane as it was taking off in the opening moments of Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation. That is still one of the craziest stunts in the movie history. In order to top that off, Tom had a secret stunt planned for Mission Impossible 6. He never divulged any specifics and “Tom Cruise’s Biggest & Craziest Stunt Ever” became a huge selling point of Mission Impossible 6.

Paramount Pictures has not made any official statement regarding the production shut down yet. They are waiting to decide on that after Tom Cruise gets back home and receives a complete prognosis. Mission Impossible 6 had already wrapped production in New Zealand. The production kicked off back in April and London was the next stop after New Zealand. It’s unclear right now how much Mission Impossible 6 filming is left and whether or not the movie will have a new release date. We are anxiously waiting to get an official word from Paramount on this. Till then, stay tuned for more and latest Hollywood news.
