X-Men: Dark Phoenix started production last month with writer/director Simon Kinberg spearheading the project. It’s not hard to figure out that this movie will follow the Dark Phoenix saga from the hit comic series. Dark Phoenix first appeared on the big screen back in 2006s X-Men: The Last Stand and just last year fans saw Sophie Turner (Game of Thrones) playing Jean Grey – unleashing the formidable Dark Phoneix in X-Men: Apocalypse. Now, it has been confirmed that X-Men: Dark Phoenix is going to be set in the 1990s and will continue the timeline set by the X-Men prequel trilogy. X-Men: Dark Phoenix will feature a mix of old and new characters. Actors Jennifer Lawrence (Mystique), James McAvoy (Professor X), Michael Fassbender (Magneto), Nicholas Hoult (Beast), Tye Sheridan (Cyclops), Evan Peters (Quicksilver), Kodi Smit-McPhee (Nightcrawler), Alexandra Shipp (Storm) and Sophie Turner (Jean Grey/Dark Phoenix) will all be making their return.
Another massive addition to the movie is the magnificent Jessica Chastain who will be featuring as the main villain, Shi’ar Empress Lilandra. She confirmed her involvement when she posted a picture of herself with James McAvoy on Instagram with the caption:
“Hey, @jamesmcavoyrealdeal you ready for me up in Montreal? I’m gonna make you cry so hard 😈 #xmen,”
Child star Summer Fontana (The Originals) will also be in the movie as the younger Jean Grey. Before I Fall star Halston Sage will take on the role of Dazzler and Lamar Johnson (The Next Step) has also signed on to play an unspecified role.
Olivia Munn who played Psylocke in last year’s X-Men: Apocalypse was also spotted on X-Men: Dark Phoenix‘s Montreal set which implies she will also be reprising her role. X-Men: Dark Phoenix marks the directorial debut of Simon Kinberg who is mostly famous for his exceptional script writing and producing movies like X-Men: Days of Future Past, Fantastic Four reboot, and X-Men: Apocalypse. He is also the creator of Star Wars Rebels and has produced several hit TV shows as well. X-Men: Dark Phoenix will release on November 2, 2018, by 20th Century Fox. This will put X-Men: Dark Phoenix against Disney’s live-action Mulan and another Disney movie, Nutcracker and the Four Realms. Till we get more to report of X-Men: Dark Phoenix, stay tuned for more and latest Hollywood news.
